A solo voice + crwth re-working of a playful passing-time while working song, originally written to be sung to two plough horses named Lamachree and Megrum, meaning ‘lament’ and ‘migraine’(!)
The vocalisation within the song references an imagining of the Whiteadder Valley’s natural and human paths of erosion and various archaeological encounters of microliths (flint arrow heads), mythically seen in folklore as ‘fairy arrows’. Here the words collected by Gavin Greig are sung to a bowed crwth droning, patterning a modal form.
